Change Your
Skin Care Program
As a skin care
professional in the spa, something my clients
get used to hearing from me is to ” periodically change your skin care
program”. You
change your workout
program to make it more effective and I believe the same applies to
your skin
care program. How
often, or how much you
change, depends on your program.
For
example, if you are on a specific program to reduce sun damage, then
you should
follow that until the desired results are achieved.
But if you are on a basic skin care or
maintenance program, then changing something in that program even once
every
6-8 months can make all of the products more effective.
A simple switch to a different cleanser,
mask, or moisturizer can do the trick.
It is not uncommon to switch to a lighter mask
or moisturizer for warmer
months anyway. For
my ant-aging clients,
they might switch between a peptide or vitamin based product to jump
start
their program and results. It
is important
to follow manufacturer directions for use to achieve maximum results.
Be careful not to become
a “product jumper”. These
jump from product to product never
giving any one product the proper time to show results.
Not only is this a waste of money but can
cause
irritation. If
the skin becomes
irritated enough, a negative reaction could be caused by any product
used.
