High Protein Breakfast
Is a high protein breakfast good or bad for you? There is so much
information out there about what you should or shouldn’t eat it can get
confusing. I was always taught that breakfast was the most
important meal of the day so I would like to get it right.
Recently,
Pennington Biomedical Research Center (pbrc.edu) completed an
experiment to find out. One group of women consumed 2 eggs for
breakfast while another group consumed a bagel. After 5 weeks, it
was determined that the women who had been eating the eggs had lost 65%
more weight, had reduced their waist measurement by 83% more than the
bagel group, and exhibited greater energy levels. Interestingly,
they had no difference in their triglyceride and cholesterol
numbers.
It seems that for years, eggs have been
believed to raise cholesterol and they may. What this did bring
to light is that the time of day you eat them is key. The
researchers believe that eating it in the morning is important so you
will have enough of it for the rest of the day since the body doesn’t
store protein.
There are other sources available to get
your morning protein from as well so mix it up, try a few different
things and see if you feel any different throughout the day.
