Skin Professionals' Milk Treatment Recipes

Skin professionals' milk treatment recipes are a staple with most spas.  They make many of their bath and body treatments utilizing milk.  It has been considered a luxury throughout the years and was a royal treatment used by Cleopatra.  The following recipes are used by spa professionals and now you can make them at home to enjoy whenever you like.  Packaged in a beautiful jar they make wonderful gifts.

First we need to talk about how to scent powdered milk.  You can make large batches at once-just be sure to store in a cool, dry place.  Place 2 cups of powdered whole milk in a container.  Wrap your scent ingredient in cheese cloth and add to the powdered milk.  Using the cheese cloth makes it easier to remove the ingredient when it is done.  Seal the container tightly and let it set for 2 days.  Common scent ingredients include:  2 cinnamon sticks, 2 tablespoons of anise seeds or cardamom, 1 vanilla bean, 3 tablespoons of orange zest, or 5 cloves.

Milk Face/Body Mask

2 ½ cups powdered milk

3 oz liquid buttermilk

2 oz unsweetened condensed milk

Blend buttermilk and condensed milk.  Slowly stir in powdered milk.  Consistency can be changed by adding more wet or dry ingredients to your preference.

Dry brush the body first then apply mask to face and body.  Leave the face mask on for 15-20 minutes.  Remove with tepid water.  The body can be wrapped for 30-40 minutes and removed in the shower.

This treatment will run from $90-110 in the spas.

Milk Body Polish

4 oz powdered milk

2 oz unsweetened condensed milk

3 oz fine sugar

Mix all ingredients together.  Abrasiveness can be varied by adding more suger or milks.  Massage all over the body and remove in the shower.

This treatment will run from $75-95 in the spas.

Luxury Milk Bath

16-32 oz of vanilla and clove scented powdered milk (depending on tub size)

1 tablespoon of vanilla

Pour ingredient into warm running bath water.  Grate two teaspoons of clove over the bath water.  Dry brush the body before bath and soak for 20-30 minutes.

This treatment will run from $40-80 in the spas.
